Accessibility statement
Last updated: 2 September 2026
Our commitment
We want adult learners, parents and guardians to be able to use Makatib.App independently, including people who are blind, have low vision, use a keyboard instead of a mouse, or find larger and clearer interfaces easier to use.
Current scope and standard
The sign-in and account-recovery journey and the shared Student and Parent Portal are being designed and tested against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.2 at Level AA, with additional low-vision support where practical.
We are not yet declaring formal WCAG conformance. The focused scope currently includes authentication, learner records, tasks, messages and attachments, results, fees and account settings. It does not currently make a conformance claim for the management or teaching workspaces, or for every public website page.
Accessibility features
- Keyboard navigation, visible focus indicators, skip links and logical page structure.
- Labels, status information and announcements intended to work with modern screen readers.
- Layouts designed to reflow with browser zoom, magnification and enlarged text.
- Display settings for Default, Large and Extra large text and Standard or High contrast.
- Support for browser contrast preferences and Windows forced-colour modes.
- Status meaning communicated with text or symbols rather than colour alone.
Makatib.App does not provide its own magnifier or screen reader. It is designed to work with the accessibility tools already available in your browser, operating system or device.
How we assess accessibility
Our development checks include automated accessibility scanning, component tests and keyboard-focused interaction checks. Broader manual testing with screen readers, magnification, high-contrast modes and representative users is part of the work required before we make a formal conformance claim.
Known limitations
Accessibility work is ongoing. Some interfaces outside the scope described above may not yet provide the same text-sizing, contrast and reflow behaviour. Content uploaded by a madrassa, including documents and attachments, may also have its own accessibility limitations that Makatib.App cannot automatically correct.
Feedback and help
If an accessibility issue prevents you from using Makatib.App, email info@makatib.app. Please describe the page, what you were trying to do, and the browser or assistive technology you were using. We will work with you and your madrassa to identify an accessible alternative where possible.
For instructions on the portal controls, see the Student and Parent Portal guide.
