Makatib.App brings each part of a madrassa or supplementary school into one system. Management run classes, students, teachers and announcements; teachers take the register and record progress; adult learners see their own record; and parents or guardians see the children they are authorised to access.

Yes. An adult learner signs into the Student Portal with their own email address and sees their own attendance, progress, tasks, results, fees and messages. The same portal route is used by parents and guardians, but the wording and records adapt to the person who signs in.

A parent or guardian linked before the learner turns 18 keeps full portal access by default. The adult learner can change that person to finance-only access or no access, and can restore full access later. Finance-only access excludes learning records, care information and messaging; a guardian linked after age 18 receives no access until the learner chooses a level.

The sign-in journey and shared Student and Parent Portal are being designed and tested against WCAG 2.2 Level AA. They support keyboard navigation, screen readers, browser zoom and magnification, Windows High Contrast Mode, and optional larger-text and high-contrast display settings.

These improvements particularly benefit blind and low-vision users, people who navigate without a mouse, and anyone who finds a larger or clearer interface easier to use. This focused work currently covers authentication and the student and parent portal; we are not yet making a WCAG conformance claim for the management or teaching workspaces.

Yes. Under Admin → Education, choose Subjects only for an Arabic school, a subject-led weekend school or another subject-led programme. Students then progress through the subjects and syllabuses you configure, without requiring a Qaida, Nazra or Hifz track.

Quran Reading, Tajweed or any other Quran course can still be added as a subject. Changing curriculum mode does not delete existing frameworks, track assignments or progress history.

Yes. If you run a small madrassa by yourself, teach online or teach from home, you can use the same login for the Admin and Teaching workspaces. You do not need to invite yourself using a second email address.

Create your classes first, then go to Admin → Settings and complete the “I also teach” section. Choose the classes you teach and save. Open My account and select “Switch to Teaching” whenever you need to take a register, record progress, assign tasks or message parents.

Each student follows a track the way it's actually taught. Qaida tracks book and lesson position; Nazra tracks Surah, Juz and page through the Mushaf; Hifz runs three streams: Sabaq (new lesson), Sabqi (recent revision) and Manzil (long-term revision), each logged per session with a quality rating.

Sensible defaults are built in, and madrassas can upload their own teaching framework by CSV. Other subjects (Fiqh, Seerah and more) can be tracked alongside the Quran path.

No app store needed. Makatib.App is a web app that works on any phone, tablet or computer, and it's installable to your home screen as a PWA. Teachers' screens are built mobile-first, designed for one hand, mid-class.

On an iPhone or iPad, open Makatib.App in Safari, use Share → Add to Home Screen, then tap Add. On Android, open it in Chrome, use the three-dot menu → Add to home screen, then tap Install. The wording can vary slightly by phone.

The new icon opens Makatib.App like an app, but you keep using your existing login. Installation is optional and there is nothing to download from an app store.

Yes. Management can create reusable grading schemas and exam templates for Quran pathways, wider subjects and custom assessment items, then open a sitting for the relevant classes with a marking deadline.

Teachers save drafts and sign off the subjects assigned to them. Management reviews the completed class, can return a subject for correction, previews each student's formal report and publishes it to the adult learner or currently authorised guardians. Reports can include marks, grades, teacher comments, attendance and an optional class rank.

Everything: the register with automatic absence alerts, tasks, Quran progress logging, multi-subject syllabi, two-way messaging, the Student and Parent Portal, and fee collection. There's no charge, no card and no feature gates during the beta.

The 0–30 active student tier remains free. Monthly pricing is £25 for 31–150 students, £45 for 151–300, and £75 for 301–600. Contact us for 601 or more students. Every tier includes every feature.

Paying annually costs the same as ten monthly payments, giving you two months free. The displayed prices are the final subscription totals, with no additional VAT added.

Founding members receive 20% off the applicable standard price while they remain continuously subscribed, and the discount stacks with annual billing.

Eligibility is earned through active participation in the beta. You can begin with one class, but its structure must be confirmed, a teacher or owner-teacher assigned, real students enrolled, and at least one register completed before the beta closes. Creating an account or leaving an incomplete setup does not qualify. Eligibility is confirmed by Makatib.App, and you'll never be silently moved onto a paid plan.

Your data stays yours. If you continue after launch, everything carries over. If you decide not to, we'll offer an export of your records before anything is removed.

Madrassa staff can see the students their role permits within their own madrassa. Adult learners see their own record. Parents and guardians see only linked children they are currently authorised to access, never anyone else's. Messaging is private between a learner or guardian and the relevant teacher; management can send announcements.

Fees are tighter still. Only management sees amounts, invoices and payment history. Teachers see whether a student has something outstanding, so they know when to point a family towards the office, and nothing more: no figures, no dates, no history. A family on a hardship waiver looks exactly like a fully paid one to a teacher.

No. We take nothing from fees you collect, and the money never passes through us. Your madrassa holds its own Stripe account, so payments go straight from the parent to your bank. Stripe charges its own processing fee, which is between you and Stripe.

This is also why we can be relaxed about it: fee collection is there to make the software more useful to you, not to become a revenue line for us.

Yes. Set a sibling ladder once, for example 25% off from the second child, and it applies automatically. Children are ranked within a household by enrolment date, so a family's discount does not shift when a younger sibling joins, and you can cap what any one household pays.

Hardship waivers and individually agreed rates are set per student for a date range. The reason you record is only ever visible to your management team.

Parents get a reminder before the due date and again once it has passed, and management sees what is outstanding at a glance.

There is no late payment charge, and we have not built one. Many madrassas regard a penalty for late payment as too close to interest, and a reminder plus a quiet conversation tends to work better anyway.

No. A mosque-attached madrassa that is a registered charity, an independent madrassa run as a company, and a teacher running classes in their own name are all fine. Stripe asks what kind of organisation you are during setup and you answer for yourself; we do not assume an answer or fill it in for you.

Answer it honestly. It is a verification question, and saying charity when you are not means Stripe eventually asks for a registration number that does not exist, which stalls your setup.

Yes, though the UK is where we are starting and where the product is most thoroughly proven. You choose the country your madrassa banks in and the currency you charge in when you set fees up, and invoices, reminders and reports all follow that currency.

One difference to know about: Bacs Direct Debit is a UK-only scheme, so madrassas banking elsewhere are offered card payment alone. If you are outside the UK, you are also responsible for checking that collecting fees this way is lawful where you operate.

No, and this catches charities out. Gift Aid is a UK relief, so this only concerns UK madrassas. A fee is payment for a service, so it is not eligible for Gift Aid even if your madrassa is a registered charity. Only genuinely voluntary donations, given with nothing expected in return, can be.

We deliberately do not offer a Gift Aid option on fees. If you also take donations, handle those separately and take your own advice.
