Using global search

Use search to find a student or teacher, check a report, open an admin page or get help using a feature. Start with a name, a topic or a short question.

  • On Overview: select the search bar in the header.
  • On any admin page: use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + K on Windows or ⌘ + K on Mac.
  • On mobile: use the Overview search bar, or tap the magnifying glass in the header on other pages.

Close search with the × button or Esc. You stay on the page you were using.

Find people and records

Type a student or teacher name and select a match to see their details and recent activity. Open the full record when you need more information. You can also search by a student's admission number or an exact application or invoice reference. An invoice match shows its balance and opens the student record.

To narrow a report, find the person first and select Use as filter. Selecting a class result also adds a filter. Then enter your report question. Remove the filter when you want to search across the madrassa again.

Questions to try

  • “Who was absent yesterday?”
  • “Whose fees are due this week?”
  • “Which teachers have not logged progress this week?”
  • “Which incidents still need follow-up?”
  • “How many new starters this term?”
  • “Which applications are waiting for a parent reply?”

Select a suggested result to view its summary. If a question could mean more than one thing, choose the option you need. For example, “Who hasn't paid?” offers all outstanding invoices or only overdue invoices. Results depend on the features enabled for your madrassa.

Choose dates and ask a follow-up

Include a period such as “this week”, “last month” or “this term”, or use the Period menu on a result. Term searches use your configured academic terms. You can also try “Absences in September” or a date range such as “Absences from 2026-09-01 to 2026-09-07”. Check the dates shown above the result.

After opening a report preview, try “What about last term?” in the same search panel. After an outstanding-fees result, try “Only show overdue ones”. Closing search clears this follow-up context.

Find a page or user guide

Try “Take me to fee settings” to open a page, or “How do I record cash payments?” for instructions. Suggested user guides open in a new tab, often at the relevant section, so you can keep your place in the app. Search for “How do I use global search?” to find this guide again.

Check the result

Check the report, dates and filters before acting. Suggestions can be wrong, and not every question or combination of filters is supported. A short preview may show only the first few records; use its link to see more and check whether the destination uses the same dates.

If search cannot apply every condition confidently, it will ask you to rephrase or offer a report to open and filter yourself. Try one question at a time; conflicting dates or unsupported exclusions will not open an automatic answer.

Missing progress entries do not necessarily mean a student is not learning. Attendance rates reflect recorded marks; missing registers are excluded. If a question is not understood, try a shorter phrase or open the relevant report. See Using reports to take action for more help.
