Taking the register & following up absences

The register is designed for the first few minutes of a lesson: mark the exceptions, submit, and let Makatib.App keep the class history and private family follow-up together.

Before the first register

Management should create the class, add its students and assign the teacher. Set the madrassa's working days under Admin → Settings too: these determine when an untaken register is genuinely missing rather than simply not expected.

Take a register

  1. Open Teaching → Register and choose the class.
  2. Check the date and add a session label when it helps distinguish lessons.
  3. Students begin as Present. Change exceptions to Late,Absent or Excused.
  4. Review the totals and submit the register.

Use Excused when the absence should remain visible without being treated like an unexplained absence. Keep any note factual and brief; it forms part of the student record.

Correct a submitted register

Return to the class and date, change the relevant mark, then save again. The corrected entry replaces the mistaken status in attendance views and reports, so there is no need to create a second register.

How absence alerts work

When a student is marked Absent, linked guardians who can receive messages can be notified privately. Check the student's guardian links and communication permission if the right family member is not receiving updates. For a wider explanation or conversation, use a direct message rather than a public group chat.

Follow up from management reports

The attendance report shows marks and rates across the selected period, the absences that need attention, and registers not taken on expected working days. The current lesson is not treated as missed while there is still time to submit it. Admins can remind the assigned teacher from the missed-register view.
