Messages, announcements & notifications
Use the narrowest channel that fits the update. A private conversation is for one family, a class broadcast is for a teacher's class, and a management announcement is for a defined group across the madrassa.
Private teacher–guardian messages
Teachers can start a conversation with an eligible guardian linked to a student they teach. Parents reply from the same thread, keeping the child and subject in context. Use unread filters to find conversations that still need attention.
Messages can include attachments and voice notes. Before sending, check that the file is the intended one and that a voice note does not contain information about another child.
Teacher class broadcasts
A teacher can select one of their assigned classes, add a subject and publish the same text-only update to its active linked parents. Each family receives it privately in Messages; families are not placed in a shared chat and cannot see one another.
Management announcements
Admins can publish an announcement to parents, teachers or both, then narrow the audience by class or year group where appropriate. The audience is fixed when the announcement is sent, which makes the read count meaningful even if class membership changes later.
Web-push notifications
Users can opt into web push on a supported browser and device. Push is an alerting layer, not the record itself: the message or announcement remains available inside Makatib.App if push is declined, delayed or unsupported.
Choose the right route
| Need | Use |
|---|---|
| A question or sensitive update about one child | Private message |
| The same teaching update for one class | Teacher class broadcast |
| A whole-madrassa or targeted operational update | Management announcement |
For the family's view, continue to Using the parent portal. Admins can review response and announcement reach in Reports.
